2012 …10 years into the race

We need the government to keep having the courage to impose (yep we said IMPOSE) good environmental practices like the Green Bin throughout the province in homes AND apts and condos; we also need the government to make businesses take responsibilities for their packaging (right now a lot of the responsibility is being taken by the consumers because WE are the ones paying for waste management) .
Next, the businesses are going to need to accept that if THEY make the product, well then THEY should take responsibility for the packaging. You can read more about EPR in this year’s pages.
The final leg of that triathlon is the consumers (that’s all of you reading this). We need the consumers to pay attention to what they buy. Really pay attention to products that are over packaged and stay away from them. And as always do the little things – bring reusuable bags when you shop, buy less, save more and remember that sustainability starts with common sense. (PLEASE stop buying plastic water bottles!) So get your gear on and join us – the finish line is flexible. And even when the race ends, let’s be clear - we’ll always keep training – it’s what the St. Henry Hawks do!
